Home additions & air sealing
Comfortable heating and cooling for your home addition.
Planning or finishing an addition in New Jersey? We'll make sure the new space stays as comfortable as the rest of your home.
Heating and cooling a new addition
A new room often ends up too hot in summer and too cold in winter because the existing system was never sized for it. We check whether your current equipment can handle the extra space or whether the addition needs its own system.
Ductless mini split or duct extension?
If your current system has room to spare, extending the ductwork can work well. If not, or if the addition is far from the main system, a ductless mini split heats and cools the room on its own, with its own controls.
Air sealing: stop the drafts first
Gaps around windows, doors, attic hatches and where the addition meets the old house let air leak in and out. Sealing those leaks helps any heating or cooling system keep the room comfortable and run less.
Problems we see often
Rooms over garages, sunrooms and finished attics that never feel right; cold floors; hot upper rooms; and one room that's always a few degrees off from the rest of the house.
